About the Board

City Council re-organized the Main Street Historic Preservation Advisory Board (MSHPAB) in 2025 with the purpose to protect, promote, and enhance the historic character and economic vitality of Bay City’s historic commercial district. The Board supports the Main Street Four Point Approach—Design, Economic Vitality, Promotion, and Organization—and provides guidance, review, and recommendations regarding preservation-related activities, public improvements, and reinvestment initiatives. MSHPAB shall serve as an advisory body only.

The Main Street Historic Preservation Advisory Board shall consist of seven (7) to nine (9) voting members which will serve in numbered places. Members shall possess sufficient knowledge and interest in Preservation-Based Economic Development, Historic Preservation, and/or interest in downtown revitalization.
