MISSION: The City of Bay City Public Works Department mission is to respond promptly and professionally to residents’ concerns and to deliver high quality, low cost best in class municipal services to our customers.

The Public Works Department plays a very important role in Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Management planning for the City. We coordinate with the City management team, other city departments, and outside agencies to make timely decisions during emergencies and send accurate notifications to the public. 

For problems with streets, sewer, or water utilities please call our Municipal Services Building at (979) 323-1659 during regular business hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. For emergency service after hours, on weekends, or holiday's, please call our After-Hours service line at (979) 245-7146.

  1. From the Director's Desk

We at Public Works realize that there are many problems and concerns throughout the City. We are working as hard and as quickly as possible to address and to fix these issues. Understand that we can only fix what we know about and what is reported.  We will make repairs in order of criticality and magnitude. So, we do ask for your patience.

Public works maintains your stormwater, your streets, your streetlights and street signs, the City buildings and equipment fleet, your water and wastewater utility operations, code compliance, planning and development and building permitting… the list goes on and on.

On a periodic basis you will find information on pavement management, upcoming, and ongoing Public Works projects, hurricane season, winter weather, water conservation, and important contact information.  

Finally, public works professionals are first responders. So, when things get bad around us, we get busy. We are normally first to respond after the storm or crisis and typically last out.

Here at Public Works, we have a ready and resilient staff that are committed to making Bay City the best it can be. I am proud of all the work these men and women accomplish on a daily basis.
