The Bay City Main Street Program encourages economic
development within the context of historic preservation in
ways appropriate to today’s market place. The Main Street
Approach advocates a return to community self-reliance, local
empowerment, and the rebuilding of traditional commercial
districts based on
their unique assets:
- Distinctive architecture
- Pedestrian-friendly environment
- Personal service
- Local ownership
- Sense of community
Bay City Main Street is a 2018 Accredited Main Street
America and Texas Main Street Program.
Mission Statement
The Mission of Bay City Main Street is to promote historic pride and economic vitality within the Four Points Approach of:
- Design (restoration assistance)
- Economic Vitality (shared financial information and aid)
- Organization (added partners)
- Promotion (inventive ideas)
Success in these four areas will result in our vision for hospitality and economic vitality through County strength and pride.
Vision Statement
The Bay City Main Street Program envisions downtown Bay City as the pulse of the County, celebrating historic pride, economic vitality, and the best of Texas hospitality.
Events & Attractions
Bay City Wild Game and Wine Camofest acclaims Bay City Native and artist, Forrest Clemenger Bess, designer of camouflage. Camofest celebrates Bay City as the "Gateway to the Great Outdoors" and includes a full weekend of music, wine tasting, wild game tasting and shooting competitions. Held the last weekend each January, Camofest is a unique event you won’t want to miss.

Eat, shop, play, and live in downtown Bay City! If a shopping and dining experience is what you seek, then come on down to Bay City. The square boasts shops that have been around more than half a century, as well as unique shops recently opened by a new generation of entrepreneurs. From boots to bangles, glitter to rust, gourmet to home cooking, you’ll find what you’re looking for in downtown Bay City. And yes, you can live right in the heart of Bay City in any number of apartments located in historic, rehabilitated buildings.
