Bay City Library Association
Bay City Library Association (BCLA) served as the governing authority of the Library from 1912 -2012. Beginning 2013, the BCLA transitioned into an advocacy and fundraising role as the Library became a department of the City of Bay City.
Projects
- Sponsor programs throughout the year including Summer Reading Programs, Lego Builders Club, and Mother's Day Tea Party.
- Supplement the City of Bay City budget for the Bay City Branch for additional needs
- Advocate for the library and library services
- Main focus: programs, technology, large projects
Friends of the Bay City Library
Become a member of the Friends of the Bay City Library to help support the library.
Friends of the Bay City Public Library is an organization of citizens in our community who:
- assist our Bay City public library through volunteer hours and funding of programs
- help with activities including Take Your Child to Library Day, Mother's Day Tea Party, MatCo Librarian Meeting (all Matagorda County public librarians and public school librarians), Lego Club Party, Library Summer Programs, etc.
- give a hand with special projects
- through fund-raising efforts have helped purchase books, materials, and equipment which the library budget could not provide
Annual Dues
All dues and contributions are tax-deductible. The following annual dues are payable by January of each year:
- $5: Junior Friend (6th - 12th grade)
- $25: Individual
- $50: Couple
- $150: Business
- $300: Individual Life Member (may be paid over 2 year period, $150 each year)
- $500: Couples Life Member (may be paid over 2 year period, $250 each year)

Meetings
Meetings are held at 3 pm at the Bay City Public Library on the 2nd Sunday of January and July and the 2nd Saturday of April and October.
Library Mini Golf
The annual fundraiser for the Friends of the Bay City occurs during the Summer Reading Program. Hole Sponsorship Packages are available by emailing sdenbow@cityofbaycity.org, can be picked up at the library, or online to print out and return.
Friends of the Sargent Library
Become a member of the Friends of the Bay City Library to help support the library.
Friends of the Sargent Library (FOSL) is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2007. Dedicated to supporting the Sargent Branch Library, FOSL strengthens the library through fundraising, volunteer efforts, advocacy, and community engagement. The group promotes the library as a vital cultural and educational resource for the Sargent community.
- Raise funds to purchase books, materials, equipment, and other resources that fall outside the library's regular budget
- Funds the library's special projects, events and programming held at the Sargent Branch
- Contributed significantly to the structural renovations and furnishings of the Sargent library's relocation project
- Offer educational scholarships to Sargent community residents pursing post-secondary education
- Host the annual Kayaks & Cars FUNraiser as a key community fundraising event

Meetings
Meeting are held the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the Sargent Branch Library, 20305 FM457 , Sargent, TX 77414. Ten-day advance notice for the annual meeting is posted at the Sargent Post Office and FOSL's Facebook page.
Kayaks & Cars FUNraiser
Friends of the Sargent Library (FOSL)'s sole fundraiser is held on the last Saturday in September. This leisurely paddle on Caney Creek begins at the RV Park and ends at Caney Creek Estates Boat Ramp #1. Car show festivities, food, and the fun follow at nearby Lions Park.
