Handle Your Citation

If you have received a citation from the Bay City Police Department, Code Enforcement or Animal Control, you are required to appear at Bay City Municipal Court within twelve days of receiving your citation.

What are your options?

1. You can contest the citation and go to court.

2. If you wish to try and keep the citation off of your record, you may request to go to a Pre-Trial hearing or you may be eligible to complete a Driving Safety Course.

3. Your violation may be eligible for a compliance dismissal. Please contact the court by calling 979-245-0035 or emailing us at: bcmc@cityofbaycity.org.

4. You can pay the fine and costs.

  • You can request a payment plan.
  • You can complete community service in lieu of payment.

If you are unable to pay and community service would cause you an undue hardship, you may request an indigency hearing before the Judge to determine your ability to pay. Alternatively, you may be eligible for jail credit if you have been incarcerated since receiving your citation. To request jail credit, simply go to the Forms tab of our webpage and select the Motion for credit for time served. Fill out the form and submit it in person or via email to: bcmc@cityofbaycity.org. Your request will be reviewed by the Judge.

For more information on community service or payment options, visit those portions of our webpage.
